Traditionally we are entering the time where the garden shuts down and we wait patiently for spring to arrive. But not at East Anstey! We have been busier than ever ensuring that our outdoor learning environment is a thriving natural space for us all to enjoy.

The compost corner has now been sorted and is in full decomposition mode. Autumn leaves have been collected to make leaf mould, and rebuilding our compost credentials is in full swing.

The invertebrates have been given a helping hand with a multi storey bug bed and breakfast built in the woodland. By encouraging these fascinating minibeasts on to our site, it enables us to learn, love and laugh at the variety of these essential oddities.

4 hedgehog homes have been set up on our Hedgehog Highway. We have been learning about how desperate the plight of the hog is. without intervention there is a very high chance that these prickly pigs of the hedge will not be with us in the near future.

All of these learning opportunities have helped us to earn our RSPB Wild Schools Bronze award. A fantastic achievement fully deserved by all of the children. But we are not stopping there, We are fast approaching the silver award as well as the highly acclaimed Woodland Trust Gold award.

Nature needs us!
